I just feel Homer has really done a number on this and past councils. We citizens have seen about as much daylight on this subject as the rehab homes and you know what that's going to cost us. Homer's pay package, just recently increased, is unbelievable to say the least. Backbone The good news is that the Rehab situation is happening all over, in other cities. Other cities have Managers and Councils with more backbone and they will push state resolution through. We can wait for them. Meanwhile, we voters should really vote out these Appointees like Rosansky, Daigle, etc. that just sponge off the taxpayer. With over 120 "identified" facilities (not including the ones we haven't found yet) and over 1000 illegal unlicensed beds in Newport...his reasoning is ridiculous. This man is a hired gun to stop residents from exerting their right to a safe neighborhood and a better quality of life. Allowing ALTERNATIVE SENTENCING, is allowing criminals and parolees by the thousands to rotate in and out of our neighborhoods. Wake up Newport, the city did this with the change in 04, is involved and does not want the operators to sue. If the operators did sue a discovery would reveal how they are all in bed with each other. Why else would the city go to such great effort to protect the operators? It will take some time but the feds will follow the money trail and hopefully they all get what is due them. They will really learn the meaning of over concentration in jail. Snake in the grass..... Voting For the next election, we need to check WHO are these guys advisor's are...if it's Scott Baugh-DO NOT VOTE FOR THAT CANDIDATE- If it's Mike Schroeder...DO NOT VOTE FOR THAT CANDIDATE- maybe they'll get the hint that we're tired of slime ball politics and these guys are the epitome of SLIME. Another Concerned Citizen The OC Grand Jury indicted Republican Assemblyman Scott Baugh of Huntington Beach on four felony and 18 misdemeanor counts of misreporting campaign contributions in 1995. All charges were later dismissed due to how the District Attorney handled the case after California Attorney General Bill Lockyer had to step in and take over the investigation. After several years of litigation, Baugh ended up being fined by the Fair Political Practices Commission. Concerned Citizen We knew we were up against some big players in this fight...how naive we were to think our City Council would back it's residents over these guys...well it's $140,000 dollars in attorney fee's later, fighting this City to force them to do the RIGHT thing and we are just now looking at a DRAFT ordinance, that MIGHT help us. She does not make this public.Rosansky is involved (however remotely) with a REHAB operator. He asks Clauson is there a conflict? she says NO. Doesn't this sound like protection?Both Burnham and Rosansky are taken care of by Clauson...Yet she never makes this public nor does she file a written DETERMINATION on both and keep it with the Conflict paperwork that the City is REQUIRED to do...Anyone see a problem here??? QUESTIONS BELOW This is really getting interesting for sure! The more this subject gets the light of day the more we ordinary unconnected citizens learn. The POWER of public servants is obvious not to mention sickening. I wonder when Bludau, Rosansky, et al, will become humble enough to realize we ALL leave this mother earth eventually and let us voters know what's really going on. Does it take litigation? The Reach Foundation is not a public foundation, it is private. The IRS does not list it as an approved non profit. Burnham's foundations aren't listed either (although the names are abreviated and hyphenated and confusing). These are private foundations who do not have a responsibility to provide anyone with their donor list. They are limited in their annual write offs to 30%. Is it true that a rehab owner sits on the board of that rehab group? Is it true that Rosansky did real estate transactions with rehab operators? Are those undisputed facts? If so, I'd say that's proof enough to establish a conflict of interest in the public perception of these important roles. At the very lease they should have abstained from voting on such matters, or disclosed such items voluntarily. By not doing so, the public trust is at risk. Why does the Daily Pilot Editor defend them? Strange! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr TICKET I cannot believe you were ticketed after the sweeper went through...I too have always parked my car after the sweeper goes by, how can they possibly deny residents a place to park? especially in SUMMER? we are in West Newport, the sweeper starts at the Point..we don't see the sweeper until 10:30 or 11:00am I'm already steamed that the City denies Beach goers AND RESIDENTS parking so late in the day...I wonder what the coastal comm. would say about this??I'll tell you what, if they start this they'll have a revolution on their hands, we put up with enough already in regards to parking. IF THE STREET IS SWEPT,WHY CAN'T WE PARK? WHO ARE WE BLOCKING??? Not enough revenue??? I'm a longtime resident of the Peninsula, living near the corner of Harding & Cypress streets. Recently I was ticketed for parking on the street on street- sweeping day. Only thing is, I parked there after the sweeper had already gone by. The sign says, no parking between the hours of 8:30am and 12:30 pm. However the sweeper always comes by my home at approx. 9:30am. I know, I can HEAR it! I never would have parked there but a Parking control officer said to me, "if the sweeper has already gone by, you won't get a ticket". Made sense to me. Why should we be denied parking for 4 hours if the sweeper comes by in the 1st hour?? I contested it and it was upheld. So evidently they can come back by, hours after the sweeper and ticket you just because it's posted. The street was swept! That's the only reason the signs are posted! Why ticket someone AFTER the fact? To teach me a lesson?? I should have gotten the officer's badge number, but I believed him... Last nights council meeting Talk about seeing smoke you know there's a fire. Our city attorney FINALLY comes to Burnham's defense and it was weak at best. Mayor Steve is not doing anyone favors when he does not respond directly to Bob Rush accusation in essence "Mayor from someone close to you stating you took money for group homes and then quickly returned it knowing things were getting hot".
